Canada

Last week I traveled to Calgary, Canada to play in the Canadian Open. The week didn’t start so smoothly when my clothes didn’t arrive with me to Canada. The good news was I had my clubs!

I spent Monday resting and going to the mall to buy everything from toiletries to clothes so I could survive until my bag arrived! Thankfully, I had contact lenses and a few other things packed in my carry on!  My bag arrived Tuesday night, which was a relief that I didn’t have to go back to the mall to buy more clothes. It’s hard shopping for shorts when all the stores are carrying their fall lines!

I must say that Calgary has some of the most beautiful views on earth. Lake Louise and Bannf were only an hour away from the course. So it felt nice to breathe in the fresh air and take in the magnificent views. I’ll have to come back during ski season!

Wednesday was the pro-am and I had a fabulous group. We laughed our way around the course, which by the way was in great condition. I liked the layout and felt that it would be quite score-able. Thursday morning I played with confidence and shot 64. It really was my best mental performance all year! Not once did I think about the future or the past. I was great at staying in the moment. Unfortunately, when you’re leading the tournament it is so hard to not think about the future and winning, which resulted in me not doing as well on the course the next two days. I shot 73 and 72.  Sunday I did better, but still got a little frustrated when I couldn’t get things going. I shot 70 and finished the tournament T18. It was great to be back at the top of the leader board, I had not been there in a while! It was especially fun to play in front of big crowds; the fans in Canada were awesome!

I was lucky to get a flight to Los Angeles on Sunday so I could spend a few days at home before I had to ravel to Arkansas for the P&G Beauty LPGA event. Don’t forget to tune in to the tournament starting Friday!

Wales

After the British Open I headed to Northern Wales to play in the Wales Ladies Championship. Surprisingly, we had absolutely gorgeous weather! I had to pinch myself a few times to remind myself where I was. It was the first time I have ever played in the UK when it’s been sunny and we had four amazing days of it!

I felt good about the way I was hitting it and I shot -2 in round one. Round 2 didn’t quite go as hot. I was forcing birdies and you just can’t do that on links golf. I finished with 77 and was highly disappointed. Round 3 was much of the same.  A few bad breaks here and there and your over par. Round 4 I was determined! I stayed focused and patient and ended up with another 70! It was great to get another crack at links golf. I really believe the more you play it the better you get.

Royal St Davids Golf Course was a great track lying right near a huge castle. It was fun to aim at different parts of the castle. It was also right on the ocean, which made the wind an interesting factor. All in all it was so much fun to get back to England. I had plenty of good cups of tea that will hopefully last until my next visit.

For now, I am back on a plane heading home to the states!

Anna and NASCARLast week I had the pleasure of flying to Charlotte, North Carolina to meet up with fellow Go Daddy sponsored NASCAR driver Brad Keselowski. And what a nice guy he was! We spent half the day on the golf course, were I managed to get him to hit one ball straight and about 200 yards down the fairway…the rest were…ummm… let’s just say not so straight. haha

The other half of the day we spent on a miniature track where it was Brad’s turn to be the instructor.  He made driving a super charged go-kart look like a piece of cake.  I could barely keep the steering wheel straight, and boy did my forearms get a work out! It was such a blast to hang with the Go Daddy team and learn all about NASCAR. I am so pumped to go to my first race; I’ve heard it’s a fan experience like no other!  Make sure you check out the golf and driving lesson on Godaddy.com.

The rest of the week included a visit to Dave Stockton, who got my short game in shape for Royal Lytham (a course where he had played the Ryder Cup!), some swing work with Dana Dahlquist (where we tided everything up), lots of hard workout sessions and packing for two weeks in Europe. Can’t wait to get over there!

The Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic presented by Kroger

Anna and Jamie Farr

Last week was another fun week out on tour. The Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic presented by Kroger is one of my favorite events. Probably because I have the best host family – the Stevens. They live in beautiful Ottwah Hills, which I renamed the Beverly Hills of Toledo! The word on the street was that Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise looked into buying a house a few doors down, so you can only imagine!

Playing the pro-Am with Jamie Farr was a real treat. He was so funny and so nice! I asked him all about his career and he was so open about everything. Very unusual for a celebrity! Golf-wise it was a frustrating week. I was playing well, but not scoring. I was trying to stay patient. I managed that for two rounds, but my frustration grew. I had so many near misses. Then you start to think; shoot I should be 5 under right now! I guess all I am trying to focus on is the positives and eventually the putts will drop.

Good news is I have the coolest golf bag on tour!! Check out the pictures on my twitter @theannarawson and my Facebook page www.facebook.com/anna.rawson.

So excited for 3 weeks at home in Los Angeles!
