Sunny Hawaii

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

Hey Guys,

I had such an amazing week. I hope you did too. Last week, I was lucky enough to be training in Hawaii! It was a pleasure to be out of rainy Los Angeles and in beautiful sunny Hawaii, definitely better for golf training.. haha.

I played every single day and got to practice every part of my game – especially the wind shots! I have been working with RIFE to find the perfect putter for me this season. Last year, I switched putters around frequently. I have decided that this year I will find “the one” and stick to it.

I really like their new deep blue, so it’s just a matter of time till I get it right. There are so many different options with putters. There are different lengths, lofts, lines and no lines; we shall see what I end up with.

In Hawaii I had the pleasure of playing with Chef Sam Choy, who is an unbelievably nice guy! He told me all about his “money sauce”, favorite recipes, and all the famous people he has cooked for. He is also the chef of American Airlines. I was able to have the delicious salmon on the way home!

My other celebrity sighting in Hawaii was Lance Armstrong. I saw him at beautiful Nanea Golf Club (where Go Daddy CEO Bob Parsons is a member) eating dinner. Turns out he has some interest in triathlons and the big island holds numerous triathlete events. During my stay, there was a rumor he raced the fastest cyclist triathlete down one of the highways. Apparently 60 people were at the finish line!

Now I am back in LA and back to the traffic, but I am sure it wont be long until I am back in paradise again!

Till next time!

The Olympics

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

Hey Guys,

I am so inspired by the Olympics! Every night, I rush home to watch the athletes perform. I love that they have worked so hard for that one moment to execute! The pressure that they are under is so extreme, and it is insightful to see how they deal with it. My favorite event to watch thus far is figuring skating, as there are so many great stories and even a little drama, haha!

It amazes me as to how much great practice and training can boost one’s confidence. I sometimes go through the motions of thinking, will all this putting and chipping practice really help me when it counts? Last week, I experienced firsthand how a good practice can give you the confidence to execute under pressure.

On Monday I spent the afternoon chipping and putting under pressure. If I didn’t get up and down, I had to do sit-ups, push-ups or another kind of difficult exercise. I was amazed at the different types of shots I could pull off, and I took that to play on Wednesday.

I holed out a 30-yard chip shot over water on the 3rd hole and thought to myself, wow, that practice really paid off! Due to all the rain I have also been putting a lot inside on the carpet. I use a No Bogey putting hole (www.nobogey.com), which is difficult to hole and helps you with correct speed.

I received a new deep blue putter from Rife 2 weeks ago. When I first used it I couldn’t stand it. After 2 weeks of putting inside and at practice, I now love the putter! In my last 5 rounds, I am averaging five birdies around, which is definitely due to my confidence with the putter! So, keep at your Practice!

Anyhow, I hope you are becoming as inspired by the Olympics as I am.

Super Bowl

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

Hey Guys,

Monday of last week I had the pleasure of visiting the Eli Callaway performance center in Carlsbad, California.

When I arrived there were quite a few trucks and two film crews. I was wondering what was going on! Turns out they had decided to film two Super Bowl commercials with Pro PGA Golfer, Phil Mickelson.

They  were nice enough not to cancel my appointment, so I tested clubs between the two commercial shoots! Luckily, I hit it  pretty straight, haha. Phil came over and introduced himself. I must admit I was a little shocked that he did, but I was happy I could finally say that I met him, and he is definitely as nice as they say.

It’s always fun to visit the club companies and test their new products! Unfortunately, my Callaway FT irons failed the new groove tests. They decided not to manufacture them with the new grooves. I am now officially on a mission for the perfect set of irons!

I left with two sets of irons (the x22’s and the Diablo tour edge) two Diablo tour hybrids and the Diablo edge driver! Christmas came early, haha.

Of course, the second highlight of my week was watching the Super Bowl. What an amazing game! And how about the awesome Go Daddy commercials? Danica did such a great job. An acting career awaits her when she is done racing!

The rest of the week was spent practicing, playing and of course, working out and yoga! I think I am addicted to working out. Is that possible? I decide to take a day off, and then I think, “why not take a class of yoga.”

I think next week, I better take a day or two off.

Till next time,

“Trump’s Fabulous World of Golf”

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

Hey Guys,

Last Monday, I spent the morning at the Trump National Hotel filming with the Golf Channel.

They asked me to host a show with Donald Trump that features a match game against Mark Wahlberg and Kevin Dillon. I arrived around 7:30am and found a very nervous Kevin Dillon. Turns out he has a slight shank problem. Luckily his fellow “Entourage” cast member Jerry Ferrara showed up to caddy and calm his nerves.

It was a great day hanging out with everyone. We definitely got a boatload of hilarious footage. I hope they put together a good show.

It will be called, “Trump’s Fabulous World of Golf”. I will let you know when it is due to air. Other than that the week was spent playing, practicing and hitting the gym. I feel like I am making progress with my yoga, but I still have a long way to go.

Anyway, I must say it felt great getting back to practice after a day of filming. Filming is exhausting!

Well, I hope everyone had a great week!

Till next time,
